An established industry player is seeking a Project Development Manager with a legal background to oversee the development of large-scale energy infrastructure projects. This role involves coordinating multidisciplinary teams, interpreting planning laws, and providing technical and legal input on contracts and regulatory filings. With a focus on renewable energy, the position offers a unique opportunity to transition from legal practice to a commercial role, contributing to the growth of innovative energy solutions. If you are ready to make impactful decisions and drive projects forward, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Project Development Manager (Legal Background) – Independent Power Producer
Are you currently working in legal practice supporting clients in the development of Energy Infrastructure assets? Ever considered what it would be like on the other side of the table, taking the commercial decisions, owning the relationships, coordinating Land, Planning, Grid, Community, Engineering etc?
Our client is one of the market leaders in Europe’s Grid Balancing industries. They develop, build, own, and operate major Energy Infrastructure including Battery Energy Storage (BESS), Pumped Storage Hydro (PSH), Thermal Power (Peakers), Hydrogen Production & Storage as well as Transmission systems.
They are a highly competent outfit and manage the full process in-house; Policy/Strategy, Greenfield Project Development, Financing (Equity & Debt structuring), Procurement, Construction, Operations, and Trading.
Given the complexity of Project Development, especially at the Nationally Significant Infrastructure level, hiring commercially minded individuals with strong legal or technical backgrounds gives some advantage. Our client has had great success hiring and promoting individuals from the legal community in the past and would ideally replicate this again now.
