Job description

Are you an inspiring leader with a passion for delivering high-impact infrastructure projects? Do you thrive in a collaborative environment where your ideas can shape the future of essential operations?

We’re looking for a forward-thinking individual to lead our Asset Operations Capital Development team - an established and diverse group of engineers dedicated to delivering the vital infrastructure that powers substation operations. This role offers the opportunity to manage a talented team of 4 direct reports, with a wider team of 15 professionals working across civil works, building infrastructure, LVAC systems, batteries, compressors, and diesel generators.

As the Development and Delivery Manager, you’ll be responsible for managing a substantial and strategically important portfolio of projects, from early initiation through to development, sanction, and successful delivery. With full accountability for a capital investment budget ranging between £80 million and £100 million, you'll ensure each project is delivered efficiently, on time, and to the highest standards. Your leadership will bring the team together around shared goals, maintaining strong alignment with established processes and driving a culture of continuous improvement.

This role is highly collaborative, requiring close engagement with stakeholders across the business to drive innovation, enhance operational performance, and deliver long-term value. You’ll also manage a wide network of contractor relationships, ensuring quality, cost-effectiveness, and timely delivery across all initiatives.

We offer a supportive and inclusive working environment where your professional development is a priority. You'll be encouraged to grow, lead with confidence, and make a tangible impact on the assets that keep our operations running.

Must haves:
  1. Engineering or Project management qualification or relevant experience.
  2. Proven leadership experience.
  3. An understanding of electricity substations, associated plant and equipment - how it works?
  4. Strong stakeholder management.
Pay and Benefits
  • Up to £80,000 pa + 15% Bonus + Excellent benefits package.
  • Enhanced holiday package - 28 days annual leave plus 8 statutory days.
  • The option to buy additional or sell holiday days.
  • Generous contributory pension scheme - we will double-match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. Totalling 18%.
  • Financial support to help cover the cost of professional membership subscriptions, course fees, books, exam fees and time off for study leave - relevant to your role.
  • Access to flexible benefits such as an annual discounted share save, share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
  • Family care benefits including a back-up care service for when your usual care arrangements fall through (six paid days each year as standard with the option to purchase further days).
  • Access to apps which support health, fitness and wellbeing.

If you're a dynamic, people-first leader ready to drive progress and shape the future of critical infrastructure, we’d love to hear from you.
