Job description

Leonardo is seeking an experienced Project Accountant to work within the Navigation business sector in the CS3 Line of Business. Working closely with the financial controller you will produce accurate, timely and relevant management information to the project teams as well as offering advice and guidance. The role is part of a dynamic business sector that looks to deliver solutions to a truly global marketplace. Finance plays a key role in the service offering and this is a chance to make a difference as well as satisfy the statutory requirements.

What You’ll do as Project Accountant

  1. Support the Financial Controller in the preparation of sector monthly forecasts including assumptions, risks and opportunities and explanation of forecast movements.
  2. Monitor financial performance through the Monthly Forecast Review and Business Planning/Budget processes.
  3. Business Partnering with the Project Team/ budget holders to understand the forecast and Contract Status Reports (CSR) movements.
  4. Reconciling financial data and resolving problems/issues where appropriate to ensure integrity of information provided.
  5. Liaise with Commercial Officer(s) by providing up to date debtor information to facilitate chasing of overdue balances and highlighting of problem areas.
  6. Provide support to IPT/ Financial Controller in closing down completed Projects.
  7. SAP Administration - Provide support to Financial Controller by inputting amendments into system, in particular the tidy-up of trading against the projects.
  8. Ensuring all financial procedures and controls applied as required; and supporting non-finance functions on their application.
  9. Proactively seeking to improve local processes and working practices to drive efficiencies across the team and wider business to help drive the Finance function forward.

What we need from you

  1. ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualified or part qualified.
  2. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  3. Strong communication skills with a challenging mind-set.
  4. Proactive in approach.
  5. Flexible.
  6. Ability to re-prioritise to meet key deadlines.
  7. Focus on high quality output and support.
  8. Advanced Excel and proficient in MS Office.
  9. SAP experience advantageous.
  10. You will be an enthusiastic individual, eager to do the job and excited about the projects/contracts you will be working with.
