Hutcheon Mearns have been engaged by an oil service company to source a Project Accountant on a full time, 3-6 month contract. Our client is a Private Equity backed, high growth, multi-national organisation. This role is based in Aberdeen with hybrid and flexible working. This role will be responsible for monthly accounting entries, reporting (quarterly and monthly), budgeting and forecasting and supporting multiple projects. To be considered, you will have extensive project accounting experience with the ability to hit the ground running.
The Opportunity
- Responsible for all aspects of project accounting and ensuring projects operate with an appropriate and effective set of financial controls
- Timely and accurate preparation of business line accounting entries and reports in line with monthly and quarterly project timetables
- In depth review of Profit & Loss and liaising with project managers
- Assisting development of standard management reporting framework for use group wide
- Preparation of balance sheet reconciliations
- Assisting business lines with forecasting updates and variance analysis
- Ensure that project risks and opportunities, mitigation plans and savings plans are calculated and disclosed at the project review meetings
- Close working with assigned business line to assist with management and reduction of WIP, Accrued Income, Aged Debt and other KPI’s
- Assisting and supporting stock and fixed asset counts
- Preparation of company VAT returns and other taxation requirements such as Intrastat & EC Sales Lists
- Communicate and support internal and external payroll functions
Background and Experience
- Previous experience in a project or management accountant role in a medium sized business
- Wide knowledge of practical daily operations of an accounting team
- Experience working with integrated ERP business management systems
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel
