About Us
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and skilled person to join our multi-disciplinary public health team in a Built and Natural Environment (BNE) senior officer role that will span the public health BNE work programs.
This is a rare opportunity to join an expanding public health team in the largest local authority in the country and contribute to Birmingham's being a great city that enables people to live healthy and active lives. This unique role will support the joint work of the Council’s Public Health BNE team to maximise the health and wellbeing gains from regenerating the city.
The Public Health Division is engaged in a dynamic and diverse range of innovative work at the local, regional, national, and international levels.
The Role
The role is ideal for experienced public health or policy professionals with experience in roles or programs associated with the built and natural environment or a related field.
This full-time role will be in the expanding Built and Natural Environment team, working closely with various council departments, including the Planning and Regeneration team, housing, licensing and transport. It will look at embedding public health considerations into the policy-making processes to improve health outcomes and reduce health disparities within the community. There will also be opportunities to develop new projects that meet the priorities of the public health and planning and regeneration functions.
The successful candidates will be required to deliver on a selection of duties and responsibilities within the team, and these may change and evolve as priorities emerge and business needs change.
This role involves driving forward a Social Determinants of Health approach, developing and advocating for policies that promote health equity.
