Job summary

An established industry player is seeking a dynamic Programme Facilitator to support the branch committee of Down Syndrome Tipperary. This role involves delivering engaging activity programmes and ensuring a safe environment for all participants. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting individuals with learning difficulties and a proven track record in community engagement. You will coordinate with external facilitators and volunteers, ensuring all necessary arrangements are in place for activities. We now have an exciting opportunity for a dynamic and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Programme Facilitator to support the branch committee of Down Syndrome Tipperary to deliver an exciting and engaging activity programme for all its members.

Responsibilities:

  • Liaise with and report to the Committee of Down Syndrome Tipperary around the delivery of its plans for programmes and activities.
  • Engage with and support external facilitators and programme deliverers to ensure that they are fully aware of and able to deliver a safe and enjoyable programme of activities
  • Engage with and co-ordinate staff and volunteers who are brought in to deliver our programmes and groups.
  • Ensure that all necessary equipment and arrangements are in place for activities.
  • Liaise with our Therapists and other team members to ensure that there is a joined up and co-ordinated approach to our service.
  • Deliver and supervise programmes and groups as required.

Experience Required:

  • Knowledge and proven experience of supporting people with Down syndrome and/or learning difficulties.
  • Knowledge and proven experience of working in the community and/ youth sector.
  • The ability to respond with sensitivity and understanding when supporting people with Down syndrome, their family members and carers.
  • Excellent communication (Written and Presentation skills), interpersonal, organisational, logistical and IT skills.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as a team member
  • Due to the nature of the role, flexibility will be required throughout the week, including weekends
  • Full clean drivers' licence and access to own car is essential
  • Relevant 3rd Level qualification and/or related experience

Fixed term 12 month contract.
