Salary range: £54,684 - £74,487 per annum
Work location: Westminster City Hall, 64 Victoria Street, Westminster, SW1E 6QP
Hours per week: 36
Contract type: Temporary up to 24 months

The Environment & Communities Directorate in Westminster City Council is a world of extraordinary stories. Where dedicated people are using their skills and passion to progress environmental action in the heart of London.

As Principal Engagement Officer, Climate Emergency, you will engage various stakeholders across Westminster in social causes, impacts, and solutions to climate change, air pollution, and biodiversity loss. You will help to establish community involvement in local decision-making through initiatives such as the Citizens' Climate Assembly.

The Role:

As Highways Programme Delivery and Assurance Manager with our Highways Department team, you will deliver our annual capital programme of highways and public realm schemes. You will manage contractors and suppliers to achieve strategic outcomes and produce documentation for key governance decisions, including briefing notes and budget reviews.

You will develop relationships with key stakeholders and community groups to maximize opportunities for improvement, develop funding strategies, and manage these in line with financial procedures. You will also undertake risk mitigation, manage relevant correspondence, and promote best practices.

About You:

You should have experience in highways, public realm, or built environment fields, and have delivered high-value projects. You must be capable of preparing project documentation and understanding local government procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with problem-solving abilities and experience in managing a professional team.

A qualification in project management or equivalent experience is required, along with the ability to analyze financial information and knowledge of highways and procurement legislation.
