About the Indiana State Personnel Department (INSPD):

As an agency operating a shared services model, we provide the executive branch of state government with top-notch Human Resources services. INSPD has a dedicated team of human resources professionals working in many capacities, including director-level, generalists, and specialists in each discipline of human resources. The Governor’s Summer Internship Program (GSI) is designed to give college students real-world, hands-on experience in their desired field of study to enhance marketability upon graduation. Participation in the program will offer students a multitude of experiences including networking with state employees, resume building, and soft skills workshops, agency head panels, and much more.

The Indiana State Personnel Department (INSPD) is seeking a Program Analyst Intern under the Learning and Development Division to join the agency for summer 2025. The intern will support a variety of projects including, but not limited to, analyzing assessment data, determining best practices for tableau usage, and maintaining data accuracy for the employee experiences programs and policies supported by INSPD. INSPD administers personal policies, procedures, programs, and benefits for most state employees under the executive branch. Several of the major components within INSPD include generating equitable practices, being changemakers with HR policies, and centering the individual needs of all state employees, in respect to their diverse identities.

Salary Statement:

The salary for this position traditionally starts at $16.24 per hour.

A Day in the Life:

As a Program Analyst Intern for the INSPD Learning & Development Division, you’ll gain valuable hands-on experience with:

  1. Conducting research on best practices for current and new tableau dashboards;
  2. Analyzing employee feedback assessments for several employee experience programs;
  3. Executing data quality assurance checks on various HR initiatives to ensure accuracy and consistency;
  4. Creating reports of collected data to pinpoint patterns or areas of common concerns;
  5. Receiving professional development training such as networking, professional skills development, and presenting;
  6. Being paired with a mentor to enhance your knowledge of other parts of the agency and build your network.

What You’ll Need for Success:

  • Must be currently enrolled as an undergraduate or graduate student at an accredited post-secondary institution and have completed at least one (1) year of undergraduate education.
  • Academic work in a related field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze data sets related to discipline.
  • Ability to build relationships, establish credibility, and influence leaders at all levels.
  • Ability to conduct well-informed research.
  • Ability to solve complex, critical problems.
  • Ability to review and make recommendations on proposed changes to relevant policies and procedures.
