Job Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for a Production Team Leader to join our busy manufacturing team at Florette in Lichfield.

Working hours: 4 on 4 off, 5am-5pm

Florette is one of three UK food manufacturing factories owned by the French co-operative group, Agrial. Agrial has operations across 18 regions, with 280 farming outlets and 5 different divisions, which comprise Beverage, Dairy, Meat, Fresh Produce & Agricultural operations; it’s not just about lettuce! As well as the 3 factories we also have a farming operation – Agrial Fresh Farms. All UK sites operate under the name of Agrial Fresh Produce Limited and fall under Agrial's vegetable division. The business is more recognisable in the UK by its Florette salad brand and we are now one of the UK’s leading producers in the industry. Under the Florette brand, our site processes and distributes pre-packed, ready to eat fresh salad bags to well-known retailers in the UK. Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure that the daily/weekly plan is delivered in full and in line with budget including labour usage and yield. Monitor and report on hourly, daily and shift performance.
  • Ensure all staff are suitably equipped and trained to perform in their role currently and for future needs of the business.
  • Ensure compliance to all health and safety, HR policies and quality procedures both internally and externally.
  • Performance manage team including quarterly performance reviews, target setting and coaching where required.
  • Maintain good GMP of both area and plant liaising with Engineering/Snr technician where appropriate.
  • Being present in the department. Expectation of 95% time spent in working area.
  • Developing robust succession plan for team.
  • To lead Cell Reviews, SICs and Operational Improvement Plans.
  • To take the lead role in Accident and Near Miss Investigations including Root Cause Analysis, Conduct Reviews and improvement actions in liaising with the Area Manager and site Health and Safety Officer.
  • To be a leading example and promotor of positive behavioural safety through participating in and training out Safety Starts With Me observations.

Skills and Experience Required

  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience of managing teams with a headcount >10 including conducting investigations.
  • Knowledge and examples of application of Lean tools and techniques including problem solving.
  • Good level of mathematical capability and an understanding of yield and productivity measures.
  • Good communication skills and a desire to build cross functional relationships.
  • Knowledge of quality systems including HACCP and corrective and preventative actions.
  • Ensure food safety and hygiene protocols are followed.
  • Hazard awareness and knowledge of risk control measures.
  • Good attention to detail with a tenacious approach.
  • Ability to deliver safety briefs in the form of ‘Tool box talks’ or Safety Updates.
  • Able to effectively prioritise workload to meet the needs of the department.
  • Able to give clear instruction and engage/communicate with people in positions above and below the role including reporting and presenting of information.
