Production Planner

Location: Either Aldermaston (RG7 4PR), or Burghfield (RG30 3RR), with free on site parking.

Package: £38k - £50K Dependent on suitability and level of experience

Working pattern: AWE operates a 9-day working fortnight. This role is primarily on-site due to the nature of the work. There may be some limited opportunity to work flexibly dependent upon specific local area needs.

AWE is currently recruiting for a Production Planner to work within one of our Operational Delivery Units. Are you a detail-oriented professional with a knack for optimising processes? We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Production Planner to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating and planning production schedules to ensure our operations run smoothly and efficiently. Who are we looking for?

We need you to have the following:

1. Experience of Production Planning.
2. Experience of MS Office (Excel / Word / Outlook / PowerPoint / Project).
3. Experience of working in operational environment, production, and or supply chain functions.
4. Able to objectively make decisions based upon data.
5. Experience of ERP / MRP2 systems.

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following:

1. SAP S4/HANA
2. Primavera (P6)
3. Inventory control processes.
4. Lean principles.
5. Integrated Operations Planning, encompassing Production, Maintenance, and Capital Investment Projects.
6. A relevant manufacturing or planning-related professional qualification.

You will have responsibilities including:

1. Management of Delivery Unit order book.
2. Generation of estimates for received demands.
3. Development and maintenance of Rough-Cut Capacity Plans.
4. Development and maintenance of Operations Plans.
5. Integration of production, maintenance, and capital investment project work streams.
6. Creation and management of Works Orders within MRP2/ERP system.
7. Creation of production schedules for execution.
8. Development and maintenance of metrics to measure performance.
9. Development of standard work to support business as usual tasks.
10. Effectively communicate with stakeholders, both internal customers and suppliers.
11. Continually improve data, processes, and systems, within Operations Planning.
12. Proactively resolve arising issues and manage schedule risk.
13. Demonstration and application of Theory of Constraints methodology.
14. Calculation and maintenance of planned inventory levels and buffer stock.
15. Demonstration and utilisation of 'Just in Time' principles.
16. Utilising Lean Manufacturing methodology.
17. Monitoring and continually improving system data accuracy.
18. Maturing the culture, processes, and data, required in order to successfully implement a new ERP system (SAP).
19. Reporting on progress, risks, and opportunities to senior management.
20. Designing and implementing Kanban stock management in applicable areas.
21. Working collaboratively with other delivery units in order to share best practice and to manage internal supply chains.
22. Attending Visual Management board meetings ensuring all actions are being addressed.
23. Communicating effectively verbally and non-verbally.

You'll need to have the ability to work calmly and constructively in a busy environment and be able to manage your own workload. You will also have initiative, enthusiasm, a flexible approach, and ability to work to tight deadlines.
