Production Planner - FMCG - Food

On site role - Permanent - South Wales - Up to £35,000

Yolk recruitment are seeking an experienced Production Planner to coordinate all planning activities related to manufacturing and the supply of finished goods. This role involves direct customer interaction, fostering cooperative relationships, and supporting manufacturing systems such as MRP.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Strive for 100% service levels across the customer base.
2. Maintain optimal stock levels to ensure service while minimising waste.
3. Build and maintain strong relationships with customer supply chains.
4. Adapt to a flexible work pattern based on business demands.
5. Establish and track planning KPIs related to service levels.
6. Participate in the implementation of manufacturing systems.
7. Improve scheduling activities to enhance production efficiency and profitability.
8. Drive continuous system improvements.
9. Communicate stock levels and service performance to the business.

Main Duties:

1. Obtain and analyse customer forecasts.
2. Participate in customer contact conference calls.
3. Monitor work-in-progress and finished goods inventory, including third-party storage.
4. Develop demand plans to meet service level targets.
5. Interpret customer orders to create accurate production schedules.
6. Schedule production lines efficiently to maintain high service levels.
7. Regularly review and adjust manufacturing plans as needed.
8. Communicate all planning activities clearly across the business.
9. Advise customers on any potential supply chain issues.
10. Manage finished goods stock and improve packaging formats.
11. Monitor and report on labour requirements across departments.
12. Track production and packing throughput, reporting key performance indicators (KPIs).
13. Carry out any additional reasonable tasks as required.

Key Skills & Experience:

1. 3-5 years of production planning experience in a high-risk food manufacturing environment.
2. Bakery experience is beneficial but not essential.
3. Familiarity with working in busy and evolving business environments.
4. Experience managing short shelf-life products.
5. Strong IT skills.
6. Excellent written and verbal communication in English.
