We are working in partnership with a well-established meat processing company who are recruiting for a Production Scheduler /Planner working in the planning team.

You will need to have worked in the food manufacturing sector.

Job Purpose

1. Scheduling and planning is the process of arranging, controlling and optimising workloads in a production process. Scheduling is used to allocate plant and machinery resources, plan human resources, plan production processes and purchase of materials.
2. Production Schedulers create and maintain production schedules to ensure that all company goals are achieved and that deadlines are met.
3. Production schedulers determine and set daily, weekly, and monthly production schedules.
4. Creating production plans for multiple production lines at once.
5. Production scheduler will post schedules, solve production problems, seek to improve processes, and help fulfil company expectations.
6. They will look at opportunities to make processes more efficient and cut down on production costs through more effective scheduling.

Duties / Responsibilities - Role Specific

1. Create, monitor, and analyse production schedules in accordance with the standard best practice.
2. Schedule the production process and departmental activities relating to material, employee, and equipment availability.
3. Monitor production process, workflow, and schedules to ensure on-time delivery.
4. Efficiently assign production to minimise company costs and meet delivery deadlines.
5. Review specifications, identify and report plant capacity constraints.
6. Resolve production, manpower and material shortage problems quickly in an order of priority.
7. Work with Planning Manager to execute and implement process improvements.
8. Ensure that materials and equipment are pre-arranged for production.
9. Work with Managers to develop potential solutions to improve production performance.
10. Coordinate with production, purchasing and finance teams to develop and maintain scheduling parameters.
11. Order and stock adequate materials to avoid future shortages.
12. Schedule training programs for staff to develop themselves on the job and meet production goals.
13. Oversee routine equipment maintenance and repairs to avoid outages during production process.
14. Generate daily or weekly production reports for Managers for critical decision-making purposes.
15. Develop production schedules in accordance with sales forecast, plant and employee capacity and new business opportunities.
16. Analyse customer demands and forecast to the correct capacity.
17. Take into consideration lead times, supplier capacity and production capacity.
18. Track purchase orders and production to meet delivery dates.
19. Maintain minimum and maximum stock levels.
20. Working to internal and external lead times.
21. Updating production with any changes, requirements, or timescales, ensuring to deliver as expected.
22. Quick and concise problem solving.

Experience and Skills Required

1. Degree in management or another relevant field.
2. Previous experience within FMCG industry.
3. Minimum 3 years' experience as production planner.
4. Strong communication skills - written and verbal.
5. Advanced Excel skills.
6. Strong analytical, leadership and planning skills.
7. Ability to multi-task and work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
8. You must be proactive and self-motivated.
9. Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet applications.
10. Attention to detail.
11. Excellent organisational and time management skills.
12. Good work ethics.
13. Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to take independent initiatives when the need arises.
14. Passion for continuous improvements and process efficiencies.
