Overview

Production Operative

Humdinger, Sherburn in Elmet, LS25

Humdinger chocolate and snacking factory in Sherburn in Elmet has multiple permanent job opportunities for hard working individuals to join our production team. In these roles, you will be trained to set up, operate and monitor a range of food processing machinery. You’ll be handling a variety of our delicious ingredients, as they’re made into chocolate buttons, eggs and much more. You will need strong communication skills and excellent teamwork skills. If you have prior factory experience, that’s also a bonus, however, full training will be provided.

Position Type: Full-time, Permanent

Hours: 40

Breaks: 1 x 30-minute break, 2 x 15-minute breaks

Pay Range: Starting at £12.74/hour (Entry Level) with opportunities for increases as skills grow

  • Grade 1 Pay Rate: £12.74/hour (Entry pay) (£26,499.20 equivalent)
  • Grade 2 Pay Rate: £13.27
  • Grade 3 Pay Rate: £14.23

Shift Pattern

12-hour shifts (days and nights), with no weekend work (except for one Sunday evening shift every 3 weeks)

Week 1: Sunday to Tuesday, 18:00 - 06:00 (3 nights, followed by 5 days off)

Week 2: Monday to Tuesday, 06:00 - 18:00 & Wednesday to Thursday, 18:00 - 06:00 (2 days, 2 nights, followed by 5 days off)

Week 3: Wednesday to Friday, 06:00 - 18:00 (followed by 1 day off, then repeat Week 1)

Our shift pattern offers full time, regular working hours with no weekend work and plenty of time off in between your shifts.

Responsibilities

Using modern food processing machinery to make high-quality moulded and coated chocolate products.

  • Ensure compliance with safe systems of work at all times.
  • Perform daily, weekly, and monthly hygiene tasks according to established cleaning schedules and standards following a good manufacturing practices schedule.
  • Conduct all necessary Critical Control Point (CCP) checks in line with safety and quality protocols.
  • Monitor asset performance and promptly address any corrective actions needed.
  • Safely de-bag and handle all raw materials in accordance with food safety guidelines.
  • Maintain the quality and integrity of products throughout the entire production process.
  • Adhere strictly to the production plan to ensure efficiency and consistency.
  • Support Continuous Improvement (CI) initiatives within the work area.
  • Follow recipes with precision to ensure product consistency and quality.

Receive training in Level 2 Food Safety, Allergen Awareness, and various other certifications in your first few weeks.
