Our client, a leading aerospace engineering firm based in Sittingbourne, is looking to recruit Production Operatives in their Fettling department to assist in the manufacturing, finishing, and testing of their products.
As a Fettling Production Operative, your main duties will include:
- Using belt sanders and grinders to flatten surfaces, smooth rough edges, and remove other imperfections remaining from the casting process.
- Safe operation of air and hand tools to dress welds and prepare parts for inspection.
- Reading and understanding production techniques to ensure castings conform to the correct dimensional standards.
- Inspecting castings for obvious defects to ensure they meet quality standards and raising any issues to supervisors.
- Ensuring timely completion of jobs by coordinating with the supervisors and foundry manager.
- Manual handling.
The ideal Fettling Operative will have:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing environment is essential.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate hand tools.
- Hardworking.
- Attention to detail.
- Safety conscious.
Hours are Mon-Thu 7:30 - 16:00, Fri 07:30 - 13:30 (38 hours a week).
