Production Manager (Welding & Fabrication)

Our client, based in Bury, is looking to recruit a Production Manager.
We are exclusively representing a fast growing Bury based SME manufacturer who are established specialists in bespoke sheet metal manufacturing solutions.
They seek to recruit a dynamic and engaging Operations Manager to oversee and improve SQDCP performance in a rapidly evolving manufacturing facility, with a focus on the establishment of sound KPIs, development of the manufacturing team, and resulting in a true Lean culture.
As part of a close knit SLT, this role will also involve strategic input into company operating standards and full accountability for delivering on manufacturing performance and customer satisfaction in manufactured products.

Key skills

1. Solid level of factory based manufacturing experience, ideally bespoke manufacture, make to order, with fabrication, sheet metal or welding process experience and knowledge.
2. Experienced in a manufacturing operations management role in a small to medium sized company setting.
3. Experience in implementing and sustaining manufacturing KPIs and SOPs.
4. Experience in the implementation of a range of Lean and CI tools and driving a positive and sustainable change culture.
5. Experience of planning systems – MRP/ERP.
6. Knowledge of quality management systems – ISO9001.
7. A ‘safety first’ mentality – qualification in IOSH or NEBOSH preferred.
8. Working knowledge of operational costs and budgets.
9. Able to demonstrate success in a manufacturing operations leadership role through quantifiable achievements around both sustained positive culture change, Lean methodology and continuous improvement.
10. Any previous practical experience in ‘hands on’ sheet metal work would be advantageous.
