Production Manager Nights Job Overview

My client, a FMCG manufacturer based in the Caerphilly area, is currently looking for a Production Manager to oversee the manufacturing processes on the night shift. You will be responsible for ensuring that production runs smoothly, efficiently, and safely while meeting quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manufacture all products according to plan, specification, and quality whilst minimising waste, using a range of Modern Lean Manufacturing techniques.
2. Understand the next day, week, and month’s requirements in terms of production, resources, skills, and materials.
3. Communicate and take action as appropriate to all KPI's: Labour costs, yield, wastage, customer service, plan completion, quality reports, absence, and complete site communications.
4. Ensure all team members are suitably trained, understand their objectives, the standards required, are reliable and punctual, and are motivated to the job.
5. Ensure all employees are trained and signed off on all relevant tasks. Liaise with the training department to ensure training records are up to date and training plans are in place as required.
6. For each key role, ensure you have suitably trained deputy (minimum) or deputies to cover any case of absence.
7. Have responsibility for performance, conduct, attendance, timekeeping, investigations, suspending (if required), and disciplinary matters for all employees under your control.
8. Liaise with your Head of Operations on any recruitment issues.
9. Have a process in place to ensure that all employees complete a return to work form after any absence; keep your manager up to date on any employees with short-term or long-term absence problems.
10. Play a leading role in the department's tiered meetings.
11. Ensure all documentation and IT system information required (production, H&S, and technical) is completed and forwarded to the appropriate parties in a timely and accurate fashion.
12. Maintain a safe working environment, including clean and tidy working areas and ensuring all employees are wearing the correct PPE from a safety and food safety perspective.
13. Work with the New Product Development team and the technical team to successfully carry out production trials and launch new products.
14. Liaise with all other departments as appropriate to find solutions to problems.
15. Provide solutions to problems adhering to company policies, procedures, or specifications. Advise the Head of Operations of any issues beyond your control, ensuring that actions or answers are provided for your problem.

Production Manager Nights Job Requirements

1. Experience as a Production Manager in the FMCG industry.
2. Strong background in supply chain management, continuous improvement, and mechanical knowledge, with the ability to drive operational excellence.
3. Able to work night shift, 6pm-6am, working 7 days a fortnight.
4. Based within a commutable distance from Caerphilly.
5. Eligible to work in the UK.

Production Manager Nights Salary & Benefits
£40,000-£45,000
