Production Manager - Permanent Position - £45k+ (Based in Braintree, Essex)

A well-established and rapidly growing company in Braintree is seeking a motivated and experienced Production Manager to join their team. This is a permanent, full-time position offering a competitive salary of £45k+ per annum, depending on experience.

Shift Details:

Monday to Thursday: 16:00 - 23:30
Friday: 14:00 - 22:00

Role Overview: As the Production Manager, you will be responsible for supervising a small production team while ensuring compliance with health and safety, food hygiene, and quality standards. You will play a key role in maintaining the efficient and smooth running of operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Manage all late shift production activities, ensuring products are manufactured to established safety, quality, and hygiene standards.
  2. Oversee the preparation, mixing, blending, and packaging of food products, maintaining high standards of good manufacturing practice.
  3. Supervise and execute cleaning schedules across production, packaging, and warehouse areas to ensure strict hygiene compliance.
  4. Carry out product inspection, metal detection, and sample testing, ensuring compliance with CCP requirements.
  5. Palletise, wrap, and label finished goods accurately.
  6. Manage production materials and finished products, including forklift operation and driving company vehicles between sites.
  7. Perform basic maintenance and calibration of machinery and equipment.
  8. Lead, coach, mentor, and support late shift staff to achieve performance targets.
  9. Manage health and safety protocols and ensure site security, including locking up and setting alarms.
  10. Ensure all food safety, quality, authenticity, and legal standards are met at all times.
  11. Maintain accurate production records and communicate with the General Manager and Food Safety Manager regarding site hygiene, audits, and accreditations.
  12. Perform other duties as required to support the company's commitment to FSSC 22000 and BRCGS standards.

Candidate Requirements:
  1. Counterbalance Forklift Licence and full UK driving licence required and own transport.
  2. Previous experience in a manufacturing and production management role, ideally within the food manufacturing sector.
  3. Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and manage a team.
  4. Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting up to 25kg.
  5. Strong understanding of food hygiene standards.
  6. Experience in conducting audits and adhering to compliance standards.
