Job description

The Opportunity:

Avantor is looking for a detailed-focus and proactive Laboratory Technician to join our team in Cambridge, UK. In this role, you’ll be based at the production site of the business. You’ll spend most of your time on your feet, organising the space, moving wheeled weasels around and handling large batches of chemicals.

This role will be a full-time temporary (12 months with the possibility to go permanent for the right candidate) position based in a brand-new facility at the customer site - The Discovery Centre, Bio-Medical Campus in Cambridge. What we’re looking for:

  • Production experience in the biopharma/science industry
  • Working in a controlled environment with low levels of pollutants (clean room)
  • Good level of attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Outstanding communication skills on all levels and problem-solving capabilities with the confidence to react promptly to deliver the best service possible

How you’ll thrive and create an impact:

  • Prepare large-volume reagents and buffers
  • Aliquot reagents and coordinate shipping with shipment coordinator
  • Monitor the stock of chemicals and consumables, ordering and maintaining inventory
  • Maintain laboratory cleanliness, supplies, and tidiness (cleaning, calibrations)
  • Operate and perform basic maintenance of automated and semi-automated production equipment; usage of common laboratory equipment, i.e. pipettes, balances, pH meters
