Job description

Reports to: Site Manager & UK HSE Manager

Job Dimensions:

  • Number of Workshops/Technologies: 3 (HMA, Blutack, WBA)
  • Headcount Under Responsibility: 28 Staff
  • Working Shifts: Days Only

Activities:

  • Deliver a zero-accident performance by ensuring HSE requirements are understood and implemented across the site.
  • Act as the responsible person for HSE on the site.
  • Set high standards and coach the team to achieve them through cultural and behavioural change.
  • Consistently meet delivery targets in collaboration with business stakeholders.
  • Execute production plans, optimising required resources.
  • Challenge the status quo and identify opportunities to improve HSE, cost, and service.
  • Deputise for the site manager when absent.

Key Challenges:

  1. Prioritise safety over production - a fundamental principle at Bostik.
  2. Ensure safe work habits are applied in accordance with local regulations and Bostik-specific HSE procedures.
  3. Support the site manager in ensuring compliance with legal HSE legislation.
  4. Implement and train local and corporate policies, especially HSE.
  5. Coach, train, and develop team members to reach their full potential and support operational objectives.
  6. Manage industrial safety and occupational health programs on site.
  7. Schedule and plan team activities to manufacture quality products within time and cost constraints to meet operational objectives.
  8. Measure performance and drive operational efficiency through process improvement and capital investment.
  9. Drive an improved 5S standard.
  10. Coordinate production closely with supply chain, purchasing, quality, and maintenance departments.
  11. Maintain high visibility on site with daily interaction with staff and contractors.
  12. Ensure Bostik UK and Corporate reporting requirements are met.
  13. Ensure both shifts are fully manned with a Team Leader always present.

  • The mission for all Bostik Operations is to support top-line growth by delivering products that match customers' expectations in terms of quality and service level. This must be achieved in a safe and sustainable way at the lowest cost.

Competencies Required:

  • Degree qualified, ideally in engineering.
  • Strong leadership with a minimum of 5 years of manufacturing experience at a supervisory level or as an HSE officer/manager.
  • Excellent understanding of Health & Safety with a passion for promoting a safe working environment.
  • Proven track record of operational excellence, driving out waste, and increasing productivity.
  • Exceptional organisational, leadership, and communication skills in line with Bostik values.
  • Methodical and proactive problem-solving mentality.
  • Customer-focused.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety and environmental local regulations - NEBOSH Certificate ideally, but candidates with an IOSH qualification will be considered with the requirement to obtain the NEBOSH Certificate within the first year of joining the company.
  • Ability to travel as required.
