Job Title: Production Director

Location: Samlesbury

Salary: £100,000 depending on skills and experience plus executive benefits package

Are you a dynamic leader ready to take on an exciting new challenge? If so, we are seeking a Production Director, who will play a crucial part in leading a diverse, multi-skilled Manufacturing/Production organisation within Business Unit.

What you'll be doing:

  • Ensuring compliance with Manufacturing certification requirements across the function, programme(s), or Business Unit
  • Leading the development and alignment of Manufacturing objectives with the overall Manufacturing Strategy for the business
  • Promoting a proactive culture of Continuous Improvement and Transformation within Manufacturing, focusing on predictive and preventive measures
  • Identifying dependencies, managing stakeholders, and prioritising workloads across teams to ensure seamless operations
  • Ensuring strict adherence to Safety, Manufacturing, Quality, and People processes
  • Overseeing departmental budgets and managing resources effectively
  • Leading and directing a large, cross-functional team, influencing collaboration across Engineering, Manufacturing Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Logistics, Project Management, and other areas
  • Solving complex problems and thinking strategically to maintain focus on programme goals without compromising product safety and quality
  • Driving continuous process and efficiency improvements through the adoption of emerging technologies and data-driven insights
  • Fostering forward-thinking employee engagement, particularly within a highly unionised workforce

Your skills and experiences:

Essential:

  • Inspiring leader with a strong focus on workforce development, engagement, safety, and wellbeing as key drivers of business performance
  • Proven operational leadership of multiple teams within a unionised environment
  • Experience in high-rate production environments, with an emphasis on process automation and digital technology, aiming for zero manufacturing defects
  • Ability to cultivate a high-performance culture focused on operational excellence
  • Significant achievements in Customer Service, Safety, Manufacturing, Quality, and Productivity
  • Knowledge and application of industry-standard manufacturing tools and techniques
  • Expertise in analysing and coordinating solutions to complex planning, operational, and technical issues
  • Strong customer focus, with a proven ability to manage satisfaction and resolve issues effectively, enhancing BAE Systems' reputation

Desirable:

  • Track record of success in manufacturing transformations, continuous improvement, and technological and cultural change, ideally in Automotive or Aircraft Design & Manufacturing sectors
  • Strong ability to collaborate across broad internal and external networks
  • Broad understanding and appreciation of international industry, organisations, politics, and cultures

The Operations team:

Leading a sizable, varied team and collaborating directly with senior stakeholders, you will spearhead projects for transformation and continuous improvement over the program's entire lifecycle in this amazing position.

In your role as Production Director, you will create and implement a systematic manufacturing framework to guarantee that business delivery streams continuously satisfy customer requirements regarding the quality of the delivered product and services.
