MERITUS are recruiting for a Production Controller to join our client within the Space industry on an initial 6 month contract which is very likely to be extended. The business is one of the largest Aerospace & Space companies worldwide and has just a single stage interview process.

We are working with a global aerospace and defence manufacturer, seeking an experienced Production Controller to join their UK-based Payload AIT (Assembly, Integration & Test) team.

This role is crucial in managing end-to-end production planning across complex engineering projects. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers, ensuring manufacturing plans are aligned, accurate, and on schedule - using systems like SAP, Primavera P6, and IPS/DDMS.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage detailed production plans across AIT projects using SAP and P6.
2. Maintain accurate SAP master data including lead-times, attrition rates, make/buy decisions, and BOMs.
3. Support schedule creation and updates (forward/backward pass) to ensure alignment with component lead-times and material maturity.
4. Track and report unplanned work against project work packages.
5. Act as a key stakeholder in shortage meetings and production Go/No-Go meetings.
6. Ensure timely release of in-house manufactured parts to meet delivery milestones.
7. Authorise MRP requisitions (up to £50k) and align material requirement planning with production schedules.
8. Make material allocation decisions across competing project needs (e.g. Project A vs Project B).
9. Drive production process improvements and identify cost-saving initiatives across the supply chain.

Systems & Tools You'll Use:

• SAP
• MRP/ERP planning tools
• Microsoft Office (especially Excel & PowerPoint)

What We're Looking For:

1. 3+ years' experience working with SAP in a production or planning role.
2. Strong knowledge of MRP and scheduling techniques.
3. Proven experience managing project schedules and tracking progress against critical milestones.
4. Industry experience in Aerospace, Defence, Manufacturing, or Communications.
5. Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at all levels.
6. Experience with Primavera P6
7. Background in the space or telecommunications sector
8. Familiarity with BOM management, warehouse operations, or Kanban
9. Understanding of business systems and tools
10. SC-level security clearance (or eligibility to obtain)
