We are on the lookout for a dynamic and experienced Product Owner to join our team and spearhead the advancement of our bespoke business software. This software is the backbone of our operations, and your expertise will be crucial in driving its ongoing success and scalability.
About the Role:
As our Product Owner, you will act as the vital link between our development team and our stakeholders, ensuring our software evolves to meet the changing needs of both our clients and our organisation. Your responsibilities will include managing the product backlog, defining clear user stories, and prioritising features to balance new development with ongoing system enhancements.
While focusing on driving new initiatives, you'll also address technical challenges related to refining and optimising the existing application, necessitating a solid understanding of both business objectives and technical requirements.
Main Objectives of the Product Owner role:
- Maintain and prioritise the product backlog, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical feasibility
- Define and refine user stories, acceptance criteria and specifications with a keen eye for technical accuracy and clarity
- Act as the primary point of contact between stakeholders and the development team, ensuring clear and consistent communication
- Collaborate with developers to prioritise tasks, balancing new feature development with any necessary improvements to existing systems
- Develop a deep understanding of the existing codebase and architecture to facilitate effective communication with the development team
- Participate in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Ensure completed features meet acceptance criteria and business requirements
- Analyse and document existing business workflows to identify areas for improvement and automation
- Write and maintain technical specifications for the development team to implement new features
- Assist in planning, defining, and grooming the development roadmap to align with both strategic and operational goals
- Showcase new functionalities to internal and external stakeholders through engaging and informative product demos

- Proven experience as a Product Owner in an Agile development environment
- Strong understanding of software development lifecycle and methodologies
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to translate business requirements into clear and actionable user stories
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Experience working with a complex business workflow system
- Experience with workflow diagramming
- Knowledge of the social housing sector is desirable
- Certifications related to Agile or Product Ownership are a plus
- Technical background or strong technical aptitude is desirable but not essential
