Job Description

Product Manager, International Resources (iProgress – International GCSE and International A-Level) (fixed term 12 months maternity cover)

Our International School Qualifications business supports schools, teachers, learners and their parents around the world throughout their entire school journey, from 3 to 19. Our vision is to be the partner of choice - helping every learner to achieve their full potential.

We are looking for a Product Manager with a passion for international education to support our international curricula for primary and lower secondary. The successful candidate will be responsible for the management of our international list for ages 3-14 including the strategic direction and delivery of our core curriculum programmes at these ages and their supporting resources. This will encompass overseeing all aspects of the publishing process and engaging with stakeholders internally and externally to ensure the best possible outcomes for our teachers and learners.

Responsibilities of a Product Manager for International Resources include:

  • Support the Head of International Teaching & Learning Resources in devising the ongoing strategy for our 4-19 programmes, and lead on its implementation.
  • Work with key stakeholders and customers in our global regions to conduct effective market research.
  • Act as brand manager, becoming an expert for our 14-19 list.
  • Make sound and strategic investment proposals.
  • Identify, commission and manage authors and subject matter experts.
  • Maintain an overview of editorial, design, technical, production and delivery aspects of your projects through all stages and be an effective point of escalation.
  • Potential to represent Pearson at appropriate conferences and stakeholder events in global regions, travelling as required.

Key experience and skills

  • Significant educational publishing or assessment experience, preferably in the international schools market and/or in UK Secondary education.
  • Knowledge of current teaching, assessment and/or professional development practices.
  • Experience of strategic planning and market research.
  • Excellent financial literacy.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Organisation, self-motivation, flexibility and the ability to work independently.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders from a wide range of backgrounds.
  • Successfully leading and motivating cross-function teams in delivery of products and services.

Our Successful Candidate

We are interested in applicants with deep experience of working within the education sector, ideally within international education, along with an understanding of education assessment, practice and pedagogy.

It would be a particular advantage to have experience in the delivery of high-quality services and products that support learners from ages 14-19. You’ll have demonstrable experience of delivering commercially successful, high-quality products to time, cost and quality requirements.

You are likely to already have experience leading teams and be able to build, develop and motivate high performing teams through role modelling good leadership behaviours.

Location

This role is aligned to either our Oxford or central London offices. It is aHybridworking position, and you will visit your base office no more than twice a week with the possibility of occasional travel to other Pearson sites. There may be the potential for international travel in this role.
