Job description

I am assisting a large manufacturing client of mine with the process of securing a Product Engineer based in their Fife operation.


Responsible to the Engineering Manager, you will be involved with the design and development aspects of their production process, handling complex and often unique projects from a diverse range of technology demands within tight time constraints to the complete satisfaction of external customers.

Purpose of Job:

  1. Design and cost-harnessing systems from conception.
  2. Manage their development from conception through to production.
  3. Provide technical support to sales, production and external customers.

Tasks:

Engineering

  1. Prepare cost, delivery and technical proposals for quotations.
  2. Provide technical support internally and externally.
  3. Responsible for product design and feasibility.
  4. Define and select components for quotation purposes.
  5. Produce and maintain manufacturing documents.
  6. Responsible for product optimisation (contribution to process optimisation).
  7. Liaise with other engineering teams within the client's group.
  8. Off-site visits in support of enquiries, development projects and technical support.
  9. Problem-solving.

Project

  1. Project planning and organisation of progress reviews.
  2. Co-ordination and liaison with all project contacts, internal and external.
  3. Main technical point of contact for customers (development projects).
  4. Build and maintain good working relationships with customers and suppliers.
  5. Any other related duties that may be required from time to time.

Qualifications:

  1. HND / Engineering Degree (Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Materials).
  2. Microsoft Office and CAD skills.

Special Requirements:

  1. Ability to prioritise and remain flexible.
  2. Very good teamwork is essential.
  3. Ability to drive several projects concurrently through to completion.

Special Circumstances:

  1. Occasional travel to customer and supplier premises in the UK.
  2. Occasional travel to the various manufacturing sites within Europe.
