In that time the business has grown from being a husband-and-wife team selling spice racks locally, to an organisation with over 200 employees with products distributed across the UK. The Role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Product Developer to work in our facility in Severn Beach. The purpose of this role is to support the NPD Manager to deliver key projects and manage product development for our Bart brands and other customers. You'll be an ambassador for the innovation process within the wider NPD team, support the development of a foodie culture and drive consumer-focused development by seeking out insights, trends, new competitor products and promoting product knowledge.

Main responsibilities:

  • Leads product development brainstorms with an ideas led approach, identifying commercial opportunities driven from market, category and consumer insight.
  • Facilitates projects through the gated NPD process.
  • Maintains and records accurate documentation throughout the NPD process.
  • Develops delicious product recipes that champion flavour, are on trend and meet the capabilities of our factories.
  • Ensures all product information required for the launch of the product is completed in the correct format.
  • Coordinates factory trials and first productions.
  • Coordinates product submission and customer-led development days.
  • Formulates, develops and prepares samples in accordance with company and customer capabilities/guidelines.
  • Coordinates and attends cross departmental gate meetings, achieving objective negotiation results while maintaining relationships.

Person specification/Qualifications/Capabilities:

  • Desirable – a minimum of two years commercial food development background, preferably in an FMCG environment.
  • Relevant food qualification or degree - Food Science or Food Technology Degree/HND.
  • Passionate about flavour, food and innovation.
  • Excellent listening and facilitation skills.
  • Good commercial awareness and is accurate and methodical in approach.
  • Good communication and presentation skills.

Hours and location of work:

The hours for this role are 37.5 hours per week Monday – Friday with an annual salary of between £28,000 - £45,000 depending on experience.

Bart Ingredients offers flexible working, with core hours between 9.30am-3.30pm and the remainder of working hours being worked between 7am-6pm. The office is located in Severn Beach – BS35 4GH. There is plenty of parking on site with access to free electric car charging points.

This role is applicable for remote working, enabling you to work up to 2 days a week from home.
