Accessories Product Designer - Watford

  • Annual Salary: Up to £35,000-£40,000 (dependent on qualifications and experience)
  • Location: Watford and London
  • Job Type: Full-time, Mon-Fri
  • Requirements: Candidates must have at least 5 years of proven experience in accessories design and submit a portfolio including examples of their accessory design work.

Job Summary:

Our client is looking for a talented and detail-oriented Designer to create innovative, trend-driven, and technically proficient products for both men's and women's accessory collections.

The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for accessories design, a keen eye for detail, and experience in accessory design, contributing to the brand’s overall creative vision.

The Accessories Product Designer will be responsible for the product design of accessories, including bags, headwear, and knitwear across the group of brands. They will work directly with the sales teams, product development teams, factories, and suppliers.

They will follow each collection to achieve the main targets and objectives in terms of quality, lead time, margin, and cost. There will be opportunities to work across the brands within the group. Internal training will be provided as needed, with travel to fairs and the Far East for supplier visits when appropriate.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Design and Development: Design accessories such as bags, socks, and headwear. Experiment with materials, shapes, and hardware to create unique designs that align with the brand’s identity.
  • Technical Development & Research: Produce detailed technical drawings and specifications for accessories. Stay updated on new materials, production techniques, and fashion trends.
  • Trend Research & Inspiration: Conduct ongoing research on fashion trends, consumer preferences, and market demands. Explore new ideas and innovations in accessory design to keep the collections fresh and competitive.
  • Collaboration & Communication: Work closely with cross-functional teams including product development, merchandising, and marketing. Maintain clear communication with overseas factories and suppliers to ensure design specifications are executed properly.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in design, Fashion Design, or a related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in design, with a focus on accessories.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing creativity and technical proficiency in accessory design.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop) and Procreate Software.
  • Excellent sketching, technical drawing, and illustration skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects within deadlines.
  • Knowledge of current fashion trends and a passion for footwear and accessories design.
