Job description

Freddie’s Flowers was founded by Freddie Garland in October 2014 with one ambition: to change people’s relationship with flowers. We believe flowers aren’t only for grand occasions, but they make every day special, inspiring creativity and sparking joy.

Our starting point was our direct-to-consumer subscription model, helping us grow a loyal UK following. We launched in Germany in 2020, and then in 2021 we secured significant backing from The Craftory, a like-minded purpose-led global investment house, helping us expand, develop and grow. 2023 saw us start our gifting service – bringing the best of Freddie’s Flowers to everyone who needs it (even last minute!).

From the seed of an idea we continue to flourish; we’re now a B Corp organisation, certified Carbon Neutral (by the Carbon Trust). And our founding mission remains unchanged – to change the world of flowers, and to change the world with flowers.

About The Role

Freddie’s Flowers have an exciting opportunity for a Mid-weight Product Designer (UX/UI) to join our Product Team. You will be working closely with our Lead Product Manager to help drive the Product Design that our customers use to discover, experience and share the joy of flowers. The ideal candidate will have a holistic approach to product design, and a portfolio that covers both UX and UI processes.

Responsibilities
  1. Design & Prototyping:
Translate product requirements and user needs into innovative design concepts and solutions. Deliver high-quality mockups and prototypes for web and mobile using Figma and other relevant tools. Maintain and improve our internal design systems, ensuring consistency and efficiency. Create and document new design components, patterns, and guidelines.
  2. User-Centric Approach:
Champion the voice of the customer throughout the design process. Perform customer research and market analysis, gathering feedback and analysing data to inform design decisions. Develop user flows, journey maps, and information architecture to define the user experience. Collect and analyse user feedback from various sources, including customer support tickets, app reviews, and social media.
  3. Collaboration & Communication:
Participate in brainstorming sessions and design workshops to generate creative ideas. Present wireframes, mockups, and prototypes to cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders, clearly articulating and explaining your design decisions. Coordinate with product engineers to help translate designs into functional digital products. Support Product and QA to test functionality and provide feedback to ensure correct implementation of UX/UI.
  4. Strategic Thinking:
Identify and define key user problems and business opportunities. Evaluate design solutions against business objectives, user needs, and technical constraints. Utilise product analytics, user research data, and market insights to inform design decisions. Identify potential design risks and challenges early in the development process.
Requirements
  1. Proven experience as a Product Designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing your product thinking and customer-centered design approach.
  2. Demonstrated strong product thinking, with the ability to understand user needs, connect design to business goals, and contribute strategically to product vision.
  3. Expertise in UX/UI design, with proficiency in Figma and other relevant design tools.
  4. A solid understanding of aesthetics, colour theory, typography, and visual hierarchy.
  5. Familiarity with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript is a plus, enabling effective collaboration with developers.
  6. Strong research and analytical skills, with the ability to conduct user and competitor research and analyse data.
  7. Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to clearly articulate and explain your ideas.
  8. A collaborative and adaptable mindset, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  9. Results-driven with a proven track record of delivering solutions that enhance business KPI.
Benefits
  1. Option to buy extra holiday days
  2. Discounted flowers for friends/family
  3. WFH (where applicable)
  4. Learning and Development Support
  5. Cycle to work scheme
  6. Employee Assistance Programme
  7. Discounted gym membership
  8. Cash plan with Medi Cash
  9. Health and wellbeing sessions with The Mind Clinic
  10. Team socials and events
  11. Bi-Weekly lunch
  12. And Flowers!
