The role
The Product Compliance Officer supports the Regulatory Compliance Team with all the necessary administration required to sell a product (cosmetic or other) legally and safely in all our markets. A confident and capable team player, skilled in all areas of product compliance and able to represent the Regulatory Compliance Team when required. With a can-do attitude, they are excited to upskill in new compliance areas.
The team
With a product for every need comes compliance for every market! The Regulatory Compliance Team ensures we can manufacture and sell our wide range of products worldwide, in compliance with local regulations, without compromising our ethics. The team works to mitigate risk and enact proactive solutions to regulatory issues in line with the wider ethics and goals of the business, through awareness of current and future regulatory requirements and stakeholder engagement. It's an essential stream of behind-the-scenes work that gets our products into bathrooms all over the world.
Key Responsibilities
- Demonstrates good knowledge of the work required to launch a product in global markets and can support on each area. This includes but is not limited to:
- Generation of QIs, including checking of INCI names
- Ensuring formula records are accurate and up to date
- Working with the Product Safety Team and External Safety Assessors to generate safety data
- Registering products with local authorities or supporting markets that register their own
- Supporting the maintenance of product information files
- Liaising with and supporting Customer Care and Artwork teams where necessary
- Able to provide support and guidance to new members of the Product Compliance team, and demonstrates confidence in responding to queries and giving advice to inventors, R&D and other markets.
- A proactive member of the team, keeping up to date with changes in legislation and sharing information and skills.
- Can take the lead on new projects and step outside comfort zone.
- Shows confidence in communicating with other teams and connecting with different areas of the business.
- Communicates with regulatory authorities on queries.
Skills, Knowledge & Expertise

- Appetite for learning and upskilling, including researching regulatory updates
- Not afraid of stepping outside of your comfort zone
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with senior management, authorities, external partners and other markets
- Ability to work independently as required
- Strong Excel / Google Sheets experience (including VBAs and macros would be an advantage)
- Knowledge of regulatory frameworks and requirements is an advantage, but not essential
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (Chemistry, Cosmetic Sciences, Biology, Legal etc) is an advantage, but not essential
- Comprehensive knowledge of Lush's ingredients
