Job description

Job Title: Procurement/Buyer
Location: Blackwood
Salary: £28-£30k per annum

Hours: Mon-Friday days regular (flexi hours)

Here at The Recruitment Co, we are currently recruiting a Procurement/Buyer to work for a company based in Blackwood.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, the Procurement/Buyer will play an integral part of the team supporting key functions within the department including Procurement, Vendor management, MRP scheduling, Quality Assurance, New Product Development, driving improvement initiatives while maintaining excellent customer service levels and some administrative duties. Using strong commercial and analytical skills, the role will create value for the business through effective negotiation of price, contract, and service level agreements. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive and flexible approach to the buying role and have strong team values. The successful candidate will also be able to demonstrate a proven track record of achieving cost down benefits to the business.

Required Experience:

  • Excellent internal and external customer relationship and interpersonal skills.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills.
  • Team player with strong work ethic and ability to adapt to and drive change.
  • Highly numerate and analytical, with the ability to analyse and interpret data.
  • Commercially minded, with attention to detail.
  • Strong organisation and time management skills.
  • Self-motivated, behaving in a professional manner at all times.
  • Able to deliver at a consistently high level in a demanding commercial environment.
  • Educated to degree level - CIPS preferably (or working towards).
  • Supply chain or Procurement experience.
  • IT literate with strong spreadsheet knowledge.
  • Experience working with an MRP/ERP and SAP system.
  • Experience working in a legislative environment and familiar with procedures/systems.
