Client

I am working with a market-leading global investment firm with a strong presence across multiple asset classes. With a reputation for excellence and a commitment to regulatory compliance, the firm is looking for a Privacy Officer to support its data protection and privacy framework.

Sitting within the Legal function, this role will work closely with Compliance, Risk, IT, HR, and other key teams to ensure compliance with UK and EU GDPR and wider global privacy regulations.

The Role

• Supporting the firm’s compliance with UK and EU GDPR, maintaining records of compliance and processing activities.
• Acting as a key privacy contact for global business teams, assisting local teams in regulatory interactions.
• Leading on Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) and advising business teams on privacy-related risks.
• Collaborating with the Group Privacy Counsel to develop and implement practical solutions to privacy-related issues globally.
• Advising data governance and security teams on maintaining a robust data governance framework.
• Tracking developments in global data protection laws and ensuring the firm remains compliant with evolving requirements.
• Reviewing global data protection policies and delivering training and awareness initiatives across the business.
• Assisting in responding to data breaches, subject access requests (DSARs), and regulatory investigations.

The Profile

• Strong understanding of UK Data Protection laws (DPA, UK GDPR, PECR) and exposure to international privacy regulations.
• Experience working in financial services, ideally in an asset management or private banking environment.
• Background in privacy compliance, data governance, or legal advisory (whether as an in-house professional, secondee, or consultant).
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and provide clear, risk-based guidance to stakeholders.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to engage effectively across different teams.
