As part of the new Mental Health contract awarded to Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Foundation Trust, we are looking for registered mental health nurses to join us at HMP Northumberland Mental Health Team.
This vacancy is open to Band 5 Registered Nurses. This is a developmental post with progression to a Band 6 upon meeting the criteria within the Band 6 job description and competency framework specific to Health & Justice Services.
This is an excellent opportunity for nurses to join a team working in a rewarding environment in the Mental Health Team at HMP Northumberland where you will develop a full range of psychiatric skills and interventions. You will be a Registered Mental Health Nurse. You'll have a flexible approach to working within a team that encourages new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.
You will have experience providing compassionate mental health care and an understanding of the criminal justice system. You will make ongoing assessments of need reflecting individual circumstances and provide relevant interventions and input to discharge planning. You will be required to have strong coordination and planning skills, with the ability to make decisions based on comprehensive health and risk assessments.
You should be innovative, flexible, and able to engage with patients with complex needs. You will be committed to a person-centred approach and have the ability to prioritise.
We are looking for clinicians who will thrive working in a busy environment amongst a wider well-resourced team of multidisciplinary professionals, as well as alongside partner providers from a variety of internal and external services.

HMP Northumberland is a Category C prison. The establishment serves all courts in the region and accepts prisoners sentenced by the courts.
