Job Description

Principal Landscape Architect job in Edinburgh, Scotland

Principal Landscape Architect to be a part of a consultancy with an ambitious 3-year growth plan and a robust project pipeline across residential, renewable energy, and community sectors.

This is an Edinburgh based role that offers up to £50k, up to 37 days total holiday, profit-related bonus scheme, 7% employer pension contribution and the chance to shape meaningful projects in a team-driven, innovative environment.


Role & Responsibilities
  • Lead and deliver Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments (LVIAs), Townscape and Visual Impact Assessments (TVIAs), and related strategic planning workstreams
  • Develop mitigation strategies and landscape statements to support planning applications and environmental assessment
  • Apply innovative landscape techniques to create sustainable, high-quality development
  • Work on sensitive sites, often providing expert input for appeal cases and public inquiries.
  • Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders to ensure project goals are met effectively
  • Contribute to strategic decision-making, providing honest, professional advice that aligns with sustainable development goals
  • Manage projects effectively, ensuring deadlines, budgets, and quality standards are consistently met.

Required Skills & Experience
  • Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Landscape Architecture
  • Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI)
  • Proven track record in delivering LVIAs, feasibility studies, landscape planning, and mitigation strategies
  • Strong technical report writing skills with attention to detail and the ability to deliver bespoke landscape analysis
  • Experience working within the energy sector is highly desirable
  • Excellent project management, organisational, and communication skills, with the ability to work both collaboratively and independently
  • Proactive, strategic thinker with strong analytical skills to support diverse client requirements.
