Principal Engineer - Hybrid

Salary: £105,000

Our client is embarking on a large-scale digital transformation with a new platform that is fully centered around Salesforce. This transformation will empower the business to deliver cutting-edge digital services, streamline and automate processes, and maintain the stability and performance of our legacy systems. We are seeking an experienced Principal Engineer to join our Engineering Leadership Team and play a key role in driving the delivery of our digital roadmap, enhancing our team's capabilities, and shaping the engineering strategy to drive improvements across all areas.

This role focuses on building out our Single Digital Platform, which revolves around Salesforce but also includes a significant .NET estate and the use of Azure services.

Key Experience (50/50 split):

• People Management/Team Leadership
• Pardot, C#, .NET, Azure, Salesforce (Desirable)

What You'll Be Doing:

• Defining, designing, and communicating complex IT solutions across various technology platforms.
• Leading engineering teams by setting best practices, ensuring the correct design and implementation, and taking ownership of delivery outcomes as per the product roadmap.
• Evaluating new technology solutions to meet business needs.
• Ensuring non-functional requirements such as performance, scalability, resilience, and GRC (governance, risk, and compliance) standards are met, including information security and industry regulations.
• Promoting collaboration and product ownership among developers and testers.
• Encouraging secure, quality, and tested code from the outset (shift-left approach).
• Continuously improving and ensuring adherence to our Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
• Providing direction and support to delivery teams in a multi-vendor environment.
• Enhancing our core DORA metrics to optimise flow through systems and processes.

What You'll Bring:

• Proven experience in building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
• Expertise in Azure/.NET or Salesforce ecosystems (experience in both is preferred).
• Strong track record of designing and delivering complex solutions on time and within budget, with accountability for outcomes, not just outputs.
• Experience managing application estates that handle high volumes and deliver critical business value.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills across multiple business domains.
• Strong knowledge of current and emerging technologies and their potential to deliver business benefits.
• Ability to translate business strategy into technical solutions and convert business requirements into technical design.
• Experience working in Agile environments, with a deep understanding of ensuring optimal flow through the full SDLC.
