Principle Designer

2x Principle Design Engineers | Ad hoc Travel | Outside IR35

Key Responsibilities:

1. Oversee all engineering activities from project start to completion, ensuring compliance with standards, QA/QC, and HSSE.
2. Lead EHV/HV AIS & GIS substation projects and manage engineering teams (local & remote).
3. Coordinate civil, structural, protection, and control system interfaces.
4. Engage in technical discussions with customers/suppliers and handle site queries.
5. Manage engineering budgets, schedules, risk, and change processes.
6. Develop technical solutions, specifications, and cost estimates.
7. Review supplier designs, attend factory/site tests, and support tenders.

Requirements:

1. Degree in Electrical Engineering (Bachelor's or Master's).
2. Extensive substation engineering experience, including NG, SSEN & SPEN standards.
3. Certifications: Principal Designer (PD) / LCDAE (National Grid), CEng (or working towards).
4. Strong expertise in substation design, layouts, grounding, switchgear, and system studies.
5. Familiarity with protection & control systems, AutoCAD/MicroStation, and MS Office.
