Person specification
Registration and qualifications
Essential criteria
  • You must be registered/accredited with a professional body. e.g. HCPC,
  • Diploma, masters, doctoral degree or equivalent accepted by the British Psychological Society as qualifying the person to work as a clinical psychologist.
Desirable criteria
  • Masters level qualification or equivalent (including evidence of working towards this level)
  • Formal Teaching and Assessing Certificate/Qualification
  • Clinical supervisor qualification/training/accreditation.
Experience
Essential criteria
  • Experience in assessment and therapeutic work with children and families across the age range with a full range of presenting problems and across settings including community, outpatient and clinic settings
  • Experience of maintaining effective working relationships and of clearly communicating service-related information to senior managers and key stakeholders
  • Experience of offering a cognitive behavioural approach.
  • Experience of multidisciplinary teamwork.
  • Experience of case management, including experience of assessing and managing risk: including safeguarding
  • Experience of teaching, training and supervision.
  • Experience of consulting with health care and other professionals.
  • Knowledge of legislation and national guidance in relation to the needs of children.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of the application of CAMHS in different cultural contexts.
  • Experience of working autonomously as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience in working in developing services.
  • Working knowledge of professional systems involved in community settings
Skills
Essential criteria
  • Skills in the use of complex methods of CAMHS assessment, intervention and management in work with children and families.
  • Ability to integrate CAMHS theories and outcome data with clinical practice and service provision.
  • Ability to work with people from different backgrounds, cultures and of different ages.
  • Ability to cope with stressful interpersonal situations including maintaining a high degree of professionalism in the face of highly emotive and distressing problems.
  • Good skills in communicating with children, parents and colleagues.
Education and Supervision

  • Experience in teaching and training staff from other professional groups.
  • Experience in designing, planning and undertaking clinical research/service evaluation.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development.
Desirable criteria
  • Experience of teaching, training and supervision of students/assistant/trainee clinical psychologists/medical students.

  • A commitment to undertake further relevant training and self-directed study.

  • Punctual and flexible across hours of work when required.
