Summary: The Principal Tender Engineer will be responsible for preparing and managing the tender process for renewable energy projects. This role involves coordinating with various departments to gather necessary information, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and submitting competitive bids. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in a similar role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Preparing and submitting completed bids to existing and prospective clients.
- Fulfilling all client requirements as needed.
- Responsible for preliminary design assumptions necessary to establish a Bill of Quantities.
- Preparing bid documents with appropriate quality.
- Developing detailed design drawings, technical specifications, and all documentation according to the customer’s requirements, budget, and planning.
- Conducting tendering activities in communication with customers, suppliers, and other third parties.
- Preparing requests for quotations to be sent to suppliers.
- Evaluating suppliers’ technical offers.
- Developing technical specifications and scopes of work for the company.
- Reviewing tender information received from the client.
- Clarifying bid conditions and tender preparation.
- Participating in and supporting bid/no bid decisions together with the Business Development team.
- Preparing preliminary technical information and design, and proposing initial design assumptions necessary to define a Bill of Quantities for the purpose of calculating project costs.
- Responsible for cost and price calculations.
- Coordinating with procurement, design, operations, contract, legal, and other departments to share, collect, and review information relevant to each department, as necessary to prepare the bid.
- Supporting the Business Development team in discussions, clarifications, and negotiations with the client, if necessary.
- Participating in the internal tender approval process for bids when required.
- Collecting information relating to bids and organizing it to support continuous improvement of the bidding process.
- Leading the development of innovative bidding strategies to enhance competitiveness.
- Conducting post-bid reviews and analysis to identify areas for improvement.
- Staying updated with industry trends, market conditions, and competitor activities.
- Ensuring all tender submissions are compliant with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Collaborating with the finance team to develop accurate cost estimates and budgets.
- Managing relationships with key stakeholders, including clients, suppliers, and regulatory bodies.
- Actively proposing actions and taking part in the continuous improvement process.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from a reputable university.
- Significant experience in preparing tenders or as a design engineer in the PV field.
- Experience in photovoltaics/solar energy field is a plus.
- Extensive knowledge and experience in tendering processes and PV design.
- Familiarity with international industry standards, technical codes, and calculations, with the ability to read electrical schemes.
- Ability to understand customer needs and fulfill tender requirements, conducting transactions in line with budget and planning.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and other calculation/simulation programs, as well as PVSyst.
- Experience in design programs for 2D and 3D systems.
- Good command of Microsoft Office programs.
- Proficiency in written and spoken English.
- Enthusiastic about working in a multinational environment.
- Detail-oriented with good communication skills.
- Strong planning and organization skills, as well as strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- A passion for sustainability and environmental solutions.
- Result-oriented and able to multitask with good time management skills.
