(Snr) Principal Scientist- Fermentation

Biologicals Research:

Biological based technologies are expected to deliver a significant contribution to the future of agriculture alongside conventional technologies. Microbials and biomolecules will play a pivotal role in the development of these novel biological products for growers. Our team, which is made up of talented scientists from both industry and academia, requires a new position within our Microbial Bioprocessing team. The role will focus on the development and application of modern fermentation processes for the production of next generation crop protection products.


The successful candidate will:
  1. Have extensive technical knowledge of microbial fermentation technology
  2. Develop robust, innovative microbial fermentation processes
  3. Be accountable for scientific leadership and troubleshooting of technical plans and operations within the team
  4. Provide expert knowledge and mentor other scientists
  5. Have a keen and enquiring mindset, with ability to problem solve and work collaboratively to implement solutions
  6. Set standards for quality of scientific reporting and data management
  7. Prepare technical reports, present findings within project teams and be an active communicator within the wider scientific community

Education & experience required:
  1. BSc/MSc or PhD plus at least 6 years practical experience in fermentation science
  2. Experience in fermentation development and scale-up of microbial processes
  3. Experience working in cross functional projects is desirable
  4. Track record in leading other fermentation scientists an advantage
