Job description

Job title: Senior/Principal Radiation Physicist
Job Type: Permanent
Start date: Subject to Clearance
Salary Range: Up to £60,000
Benefits Package: 26 Days Holiday + Bank Holidays, Pension Scheme - 6-8% Matched,
Flexible start & Finish times.
Location: Barrow-In-Furness
Hybrid Working Available: 1-2 Days Per Week
Hours of work: 37 Hours - Overtime (Double time for anything above two hours)

Role & Responsibilities:
  1. Supervise and conduct analysis and experiments to support system qualification
  2. Support progression of design optimisation
  3. Produce and review radiological safety justifications for proposed design solutions
  4. Direct development of in-house toolsets in support of the department goals
  5. Lead detailed shield design, balancing build requirements alongside system performance requirements
Qualifications/Experience Required:
  1. Relevant STEM degree in Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Nuclear Engineering
  2. Demonstrable experience of radiation transport codes such as MCNP/MCBEND/Attilla
  3. Understanding of radiation physics
  4. Experience of radiation safety studies & behaviours
  5. Experience of radiation metrology
  6. Knowledge of the ALARP principle
