Job description

Carrington West are assisting a local authority client based in Essex in the search for a Principal Planning Policy Officer to support the council's Planning Department on an initial 6-month contract, with additional extensions expected.


The successful candidate must have previous experience working in a Local Authority Planning Policy team. The council is currently working on the evidence, growth areas, and regulation 19 plan which they hope to reach next year. We are looking for someone to carry out a broad range of functions under the Town and Country Planning Acts and other related legislation relating to the production and implementation of planning policy documents. This role will support the Head of Strategic Service and Local Plan Manager and the team to strengthen the council's plan-making, place-making, and infrastructure planning processes.


It would be beneficial to hold a Post-graduate degree in planning, regeneration, or a related discipline, and have the eligibility for membership of RTPI. The council is looking for candidates who will be able to hit the ground running and are offering flexible hybrid working arrangements with a weekly office presence.


Pay Rate - £50-£60 per hour
