Principal Platform Engineer

AAA Fully Remote, UKSpliced Inc.

We are Spliced Inc. and we're looking for a Principal Platform Engineer.

The Role

You will be part of an innovative new project, working alongside a talented and passionate team on an original IP to create a world class online gameplay experience that will surprise and excite players. You will play a critical role in developing and maintaining our core technology, and facilitating launch on our target platforms.

There is lots of scope for the game, world and team to grow further, you can use your unique skillset and abilities to be creative, problem solve, and have a meaningful influence on the development of the game!

Key Responsibilities

1. Be the goto engineer for all technical aspects of game development for game platforms.
2. Ensure memory, performance, and other core systems are working at optimal quality.
3. Implement or facilitate any platform specific features, and coordinate with other engineers and teams as necessary for any TCR's and TRC's.
4. Work with the art and design teams and engine teams to set memory and performance budgets for game platforms and ensure there are easy to use and visible tools for tracking, including automation.
5. Coordinate with game and engine feature teams to ensure correct platform API integrations are in place.
6. Communicate, collaborate, and coordinate with other members of the engineering team using Slack, code reviews, design reviews, bugs, and video calls.

Basic Qualifications

1. 7+ years of professional software development experience, working on multi-discipline teams.
2. 5+ years of working with game platforms and platform APIs and tools OR 2+ years of Unreal 4+ experience.
3. Experience shipping cross-platform or cross-console generation games.
4. Strong interpersonal skills: the abilities to communicate positively and effectively, and to take constructive feedback on work well. Self-motivated, can-do attitude, quick learner and problem solver.
5. Passionate about optimal game performance and facilitating efficient team workflows.
6. Computer science degree.

Preferred Qualifications

1. 3+ years of experience working with Unreal Engine 4+.
2. Experience with TCR's and TRC's compliance.
3. Experience working on large scale teams of 100 or more.
4. Experience shipping a AAA game title.
