An established industry player is seeking a Principal Policy Officer to support a local authority's Town Planning department. This role involves handling complex technical tasks to aid in the development of a new Local Plan, including evidence procurement, Flood risk assessments, and sustainability appraisals. Carrington West are assisting their local authority client based in the Southwest in the search for a Principal Policy Officer, to support the councils Town Planning department on an initial 6-month contract.
The post holder will be required to deal with a wide range of complex technical work to support the preparation of a new Local Plan. Key responsibilities will include procuring evidence (eg. housing and employment needs), working on Flood risk assessments, and completing sustainability appraisals.
Experience in a similar position is necessary. It would be beneficial to hold a Post-graduate degree in planning, regeneration or a related discipline, and have the eligibility for membership of RTPI.
The council are looking for candidates who will be able to hit the ground running and are offering flexible working arrangements with home working provided.
Carrington West Pay Rate - £50 per hour (Flexible subject to experience)
