An established healthcare provider is seeking a Band 8a Clinical Physiotherapist Specialist to enhance their multidisciplinary Chronic Pain Service. This role offers an excellent opportunity to develop advanced assessment and intervention skills while working alongside a dedicated team of professionals. You will engage with patients experiencing complex pain presentations and contribute to service development through audits and research. Join a forward-thinking organization committed to improving patient outcomes and fostering professional growth in a supportive environment. If you are passionate about making a difference in chronic pain management, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
St George's University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a 0.6 wte Band 8a Clinical Physiotherapist Specialist to join our well-established multidisciplinary Chronic Pain Service. The post is based at The Phoenix Centre, St George's Hospital, providing specialist input for clients with complex pain presentations. You will work as a member of the Chronic Pain Self Management Team (CPSMT), alongside clinical, counselling and health psychologists, band 7 and 6 physiotherapists and a CNS, and liaise closely with medical colleagues in Pain Clinic.
This post offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced physiotherapist to further develop assessment and intervention (group and individual) skills with people presenting with a wide range of chronic pain conditions and associated co-morbidities. Input can be delivered jointly with MDT colleagues via our intensive Pain Management Programme or on a unidisciplinary basis. Within the post, there are also opportunities to develop supervision and case consultation skills and to be involved in audit, research, and service development projects. The service actively promotes user involvement via social media, co-designed events, and consultation on service development.
The CPSMT has strong links with a range of services across the Trust, including MSK physiotherapy, neurology (specialist headache service and FND service), rheumatology, and major trauma services. In addition, we work closely with colleagues on Pain Services across South West London to shape future service provision.
St George's, Epsom and St Helier University Hospitals and Health Group cares for a population of four million people in South West London and North East Surrey. Our sites include St George's Hospital, one of 11 major trauma centres in the UK and the largest healthcare provider and major teaching hospital in the area; St Helier Hospital, home to the South West Thames Renal and Transplantation Unit and Queen Mary's Hospital for Children; and Epsom Hospital, home to the South West London Elective Orthopaedic Centre (SWLEOC).
After years of collaboration, our two Trusts became a hospitals group in 2021. While remaining as two separate Trusts, being a hospitals group will help us to collaborate more closely on research, and the development, education, and training of our 17,000-strong workforce.
Please see the job description for details of the role and main responsibilities. Please also consider contacting the team for a discussion regarding the role.
