Principal Mechanical Engineer - Plymouth

Principal Mechanical Engineer sought in Plymouth.
Girling Jones are partnered with a dynamic and progressive construction consultancy specialising in environmentally sustainable, efficient design and Building Services as they expand their Engineering team. Right now, our client is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to join their forward-thinking team. Leadership experience is essential as well as a relevant degree, however we are open to discussions with those holding equivalent M&E construction experience, authority, and qualifications.

Daily Duties of a Principal Mechanical Engineer:

  • To be a thorough and confident leader of people, skilled and experienced enough to take the lead in the mechanical team of trained professionals.
  • Produce design deliverables (including drawings, specifications & reports).
  • Check calculations and production of detailed drawings to ensure engineering designs meet appropriate quality and compliance controls, project briefs and customer requirements.
  • Client-facing, making client presentations on selected projects.
  • Plus, all traditional duties expected of a Senior / Principal Engineer.

What you’ll need to succeed as a Principal Mechanical Engineer:

  • Strong leadership ability & people management skills.
  • BEng (Hons) in Mechanical Engineering / Building Services Engineering or relevant equivalent.
  • Relevant professional affiliation / chartership (MRICS / IEng / CEng / MCIBSE etc).
  • Demonstrating a minimum of 4 years Building Services design professional background.
  • Experience in managing Junior Engineers, Apprentices and Graduates.
  • Understanding of commercial elements of projects.
  • Experience in software design including IES, Revit or Hevacomp is highly desired but non-essential.
