Principal Infrastructure Engineer/Team Lead
Bristol - 3 Days Onsite/2 Days WFH
Up to £85,000 + Excellent Benefits

The role requires candidates to obtain SC clearance or to have existing SC Clearance.

Are you a highly skilled Principal Infrastructure Engineer Team Lead with a passion for solving real-world challenges? Join a cutting-edge organisation that designs and delivers critical technology to support Defence and National Security. You will be joining a dynamic team and making a tangible impact on mission-critical projects.

Your Responsibilities:
  1. Maintain, optimise and enhance IT Infrastructure, including configuration management and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices.
  2. Lead fault resolution processes and troubleshoot complex issues systematically.
  3. Design and deploy new infrastructure components, including network devices, virtual machines, containers and workflows.
  4. Implement robust monitoring and alerting solutions for real-time insights.
  5. Foster Agile and DevOps practices within the team to enhance operational efficiency and delivery quality.
  6. Standardise and document end-user device build processes for secure and consistent system integration.
  7. Mentor and empower Engineers, fostering their professional growth.

What You'll Need:
  1. Extensive knowledge of Networking, Enterprise Operating Systems and virtualisation technologies (VMware, Cisco, Linux, Windows Server).
  2. Proven leadership skills, with the ability to delegate, prioritise and manage workloads effectively.
  3. Strong troubleshooting capabilities and a detail-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  4. Experience with scripting languages (Python or Bash) and automation tools like Ansible or Terraform.
  5. Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex IT concepts to diverse stakeholders.
  6. Familiarity with Agile and DevOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines and iterative workflows.
