In Herefordshire Council we have an exciting opportunity for two Environmental Health professionals to join our team; vacancies in the Pollution & Community Protection Team. Joining our team of dedicated, supportive and professional staff with a wealth of experience, knowledge and care in delivering this service. All this within the beautiful, historic county of Herefordshire located in the heart of the Marches on the Welsh Boarder, with a wealth of unspoilt countryside, distinctive heritage, and lively and attractive market towns with Hereford City at its heart. The rural and urban nature of the County ensures a varied, interesting and diverse working day, providing a fantastic opportunity to gain, and work with, a wide range of environmental health skills.
The Role
Principal Officer - Pollution and Community Protection Team. The successful candidates will enjoy a range of duties leading and managing the team of EH practitioners in the teams specialist area; including statutory nuisance, drainage, pests, accumulations, public health funerals, Licensing consultations, antisocial behaviour, dog controls, duty of care issues and fly-tipping. Assist with PPC inspections and planning consultation matters and other Environmental Health functions if required.
We are looking for an enthusiastic, customer focused and motivated team player who has good organisational, leadership and problem-solving skills with an interest in and knowledge of the topics involved. As part of this role, you will be required to keep abreast and be fully appraised on all matters relating to the environmental health specialism, so as to provide technical advice, specialist guidance and support as the team principal.
The successful candidates will possess a relevant Environmental Health qualification accredited by the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) and hold the Environmental Health Registration Board (EHRB) Certificate of Registration in Environmental Health (or equivalent).
