Principal Environmental Consultant – Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)

Location: UK Wide (with flexible hybrid working & remote for the right person)

Coordinate and manage EIA in a range of sectors such as energy, water and transport within a nationally focused SME company focused on protecting the environment.

Support clients across the whole project lifecycle, from initial feasibility and optioneering, through assessment and consenting, construction/implementation, operation and ultimately decommissioning.

The Role

As a Principal Environmental Consultant, you will work closely with the technical discipline teams across the country to deliver a diverse array of projects – namely in Energy, Water & Transport.

  • Ensure projects comply with all relevant environmental regulations and standards.
  • Identify potential environmental risks and propose effective mitigation measures to minimise potential environmental impacts within your projects.
  • Manage, co-ordinate and lead to deliver high quality assessments to time and to budget.
  • Be client facing across the project lifecycle, leading as Project Manager.
  • Deal with sub-contractors such as noise, flood, ecology, etc.
  • Future opportunities to contribute to business development, mentoring & guidance to junior team members.
  • Enthusiastic, positive, diplomatic and articulate.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional membership of a relevant institution.
  • 7+ years consultancy experience.
  • Proven experience in delivering EIA’s on medium to large projects for a range of clients.
  • Excellent project management experience and attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication skills and enthusiastic and confident with clients.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant environmental laws, regulations, and guidance.
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities.
  • Experienced in tender preparation and bid writing.
  • Water, Energy (renewables – solar, wind, Battery Energy Storage Systems) or Transport industry experience.
