Summary

As a Principal Engineer – 6G Standards Research, you will be part of our 6G research team, contributing to the development of innovative solutions, algorithms, and protocols that address the challenges of future wireless systems. You will focus on solutions relevant to the standardization process, particularly for 3GPP RAN, SA, or CT. This role combines cutting-edge research, technical leadership, and strategic collaboration with global standardization bodies, shaping the future of telecommunications. Reporting to the Head of Wireless Lab Europe, you will play a key role in driving innovation, managing interdisciplinary research initiatives, and strengthening the company’s position as a global leader in 6G technology.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute 6G standards-driven research, focusing on technologies relevant to 3GPP RAN, SA, and/or CT, in collaboration with the Wireless Standards team.
  • Contribute to the company’s 6G research and innovation efforts, including generating intellectual property, standard inputs, and industry publications in your areas of expertise.
  • Support and contribute to the company’s participation in global standardization bodies and industry forums, influencing key decisions on 6G standards (e.g., ETSI, ITU, 3GPP).
  • Monitor and analyze technological trends to align innovation efforts with future industry needs.
  • Lead interdisciplinary research initiatives, ensuring technical excellence across all projects.
  • Establish and strengthen strategic alliances with industry, academia, and governmental bodies.
  • Coordinate the company’s contributions to multiple organizations, ensuring alignment with global technology standards.
  • Deliver keynote presentations, participate in high-profile panels, and lead webinars to represent the company’s vision.
  • Author white papers, blogs, and research publications to establish thought leadership in the 6G domain.
  • Oversee the integration of technical solutions across projects, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Tackle critical and complex challenges in 6G research, leveraging advanced technical knowledge and innovative thinking.
  • Drive continuous improvement in research methodologies, tools, and processes to maintain a competitive edge.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (PhD preferred) in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related technical field.
  • 10+ years of experience in engineering, with significant experience in large-scale, cross-functional research projects.
  • Demonstrated leadership in industry forums, with a proven ability to influence standards and technology direction related to 3GPP radio and systems.
  • Recognized as a subject matter expert across multiple technical domains, particularly in 3GPP-based telecommunications and wireless networks.
  • Proven track record of innovation, including published research papers or patents in telecommunications.
  • Exceptional communication skills in English, with experience representing the company in high-profile settings.
  • Experience with European and International R&I wireless ecosystems, such as ETSI, ITU-R IMT systems, and HEU/H2020, is desirable.
  • Project management experience is a clear advantage.
  • A high level of independence and self-management is required.
  • Ability to communicate vision, solve problems, and execute goals.
  • Highly adaptable to changing structures and priorities.
