The role

With over 30 individual Environmental, Advisory and Engineering disciplines, SLR offers clients an unrivalled breadth of expertise from which to draw upon for project delivery. You will join the Planning and ESIA team which employs over 100 planning and EIA professionals supporting projects across the Power, Mining, Waste Management, Industry, Major Infrastructure and Built Environment sectors. This is an exciting opportunity for experienced individuals to lead complex consent applications for major projects across the UK and Ireland for some of our major clients, particularly in the power sector.

Your responsibilities will be varied, but you will have the opportunity to:

  1. Manage a range of complex planning & EIA and non-EIA consent applications taking them from initial inception through to consent and discharge of planning conditions. These may include Town and Country Planning Act, Planning Act, and Section 36 Electricity Act consent applications.
  2. Take Project Manager lead roles on power and infrastructure projects, including onshore wind farm applications.
  3. Coordinate a range of in-house and external technical specialists together with taking the lead on the preparation of a range of high-quality technical reports.
  4. Provide clients with quality advice, in particular on consenting strategies, to help secure their development objectives.
  5. Support business development initiatives including key technical support on multi-disciplinary proposals and tenders, attending client/prospective client meetings, and contribute to raising of SLR’s profile including contributing to the work of industry associations.
  6. Be a lead advisor on consenting and/or EIA practice and procedures for the Planning & ESIA team and our clients.
  7. Play an active role in the development of best practice project delivery methods and standards and contribute to the development of new and innovative services.

The role will involve short term travel across the UK and Ireland depending on client/project sites as required.
