Allen & York are thrilled to be working with a small, but expanding environmental consultancy based in Brighton.

Our client is looking for a skilled Principal Ecologist looking for their next challenge. You'll be working on an interesting mix of projects, from large-scale residential developments to renewable energy projects and the restoration of historical monuments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Day-to-day client liaison
  2. Project management
  3. Field surveys
  4. Producing high quality reports
  5. Providing support to junior members of the team

You'll hold a degree or equivalent in ecology or a related discipline, together with a Natural England survey licence for at least two species/groups. With extensive experience in conducting habitat surveys and protected species surveys, you'll have the ability to produce high quality technical outputs, including Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, protected species survey reports and mitigation plans. An excellent communicator, you'll have great interpersonal skills and enjoy working collaboratively with your colleagues.

You will need to hold a full UK driving licence for this role and have access to your own car.

Experience in obtaining European Protected Species Mitigation licences and knowledge of Biodiversity Net Gain, with experience of assessments using the Defra metric would be advantageous to this role.
