Job Title: Primary SEN Teacher
Location: Bournemouth
Salary: £31,650 - £49,084 (MPS/UPS)
Contract Type: Permanent / Full time
Start Date: September / Immediate

Are you passionate about supporting students with Special Educational Needs? GSL Education are partnering with a SEN school in Bournemouth, with a vacancy available for the new academic year starting in September. There is a scope to start sooner too.

About the School:

The school is a special school for children aged 5-11 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health difficulties, often linked to special educational needs such as autism. It also supports students with Educational Health Care Plans. The classes typically have seven pupils each, supported by high staffing levels. Facilities include purpose-built classrooms, a sensory room, therapy hub, quiet rooms, food technology kitchen, creative learning room, sports hall, outdoor play areas, a large playground, an outdoor learning area, and a courtyard garden. IT facilities are up to date with laptops and interactive boards in every classroom. The school fosters a calm and nurturing environment with a focus on resilience, safety, and respect. It follows the National Curriculum with a traditional primary school timetable, adapted to meet the needs of its pupils.

About the Role:
As a Primary SEN Teacher, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with diverse learning needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver dynamic lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students with SEN like autism.
  • Provide individualised support and guidance to autistic students, promoting their academic and personal development.
  • Collaborate with colleagues and external professionals to create comprehensive support plans for students with SEN.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and development, ensuring that all necessary documentation is up to date.
  • Foster positive relationships with students, parents, and carers, promoting effective communication and collaboration.
  • Help students to overcome their social, emotional and mental difficulties.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent qualification in SEN education.
  • Previous experience of working in a SEN school setting.
  • Strong understanding of different SEN needs and effective strategies for supporting students.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents/carers.
  • Dedication to promoting inclusion and equality in education.
